Holiday Brunch '10

For the last 13 years I've had the pleasure of hosting a 'Holiday Brunch' at my home, it is a day I look forward to very much!
This year I decided to put together 8 small floral arrangements instead of one or two large ones. I love green and white for the holidays, specially on this day when I set the table with my favorite china... Jadite. For the arrangements I used, mini callas, tulips, roses, mini gerber daisies, lisianthus, dendrobium and carnations, all white, and in different vases. It looked so pretty!

Sad this wonderful day is over, but, the holidays are not, more good times ahead!

L'ATELIER

A few of my favorite art quotes......

"The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau

"The only time I feel alive is when I'm painting." - Vincent Van Gogh

"The best reason to paint is that there is no reason to paint...I'd like to pretend that I've never seen anything, never read anything, never heard anything...and then make something...Every time I make something I think about the people who are going to see it and every time I see something, I think about the person who made it....Nothing is important...so everything is important."- Keith Haring

"Art is not what you see,  but what you make others see." - Edgar Degas

Autumn and the Hudson River

Just a few reasons why I love living in the Hudson Valley

The Hudson River
The Splendor Of The Four Seasons
Apple Picking
Pumpkin Picking
Farm Markets
Art Festivals
Historical Landmarks
Beautiful Gardens
Oh... and did I mention The Hudson River?

View from Walkway Over The Hudson at sunrise

Looking South and towards the Mid-Hudson Bridge

Looking North

Looking towards the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge

There's a chill in the air, the trees are slowly dropping their leaves, the days are getting shorter and the gardens are being put to sleep. Autumn is my favorite season, I'll be sad when it's over, but I look forward to Winter; holidays spent with family and friends, beautiful snow covered landscapes and cozy days and nights by the fireplace. There is something to be said about living in this little corner of our world, we are so fortunate to experience the beauty and changing of the seasons!

Olana

I love New York, specially this time of year, autumn is my favorite season. This weekend I had the opportunity to attend an art workshop and Olana was one of the destinations. A Persian style mansion on 250 beautiful acres, with breath taking views of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains; that was the home of famed Hudson River School artist Frederic E. Church (1826-1900).
Here's a few of the pictures I took on this gorgeous autumn day.

Olana is located in the town of Hudson, NY. Once a bustling whaling town in the late 18th century, today Hudson is better known for it's large concentration of high-end antique shops along with boutiques, art galleries and fine dining. It's a great place to spend a day!
